Fears can squash chances for any sort of development and for success. Fear in itself can be a hindrance and can cripple a person's ability to pass through life so sometimes, when an individual's fear can influence their life and become devoid of reason. Some people who have developed phobia that are well aware that it has nothing to do on any kind of rationality but, they cannot harness their emotions and move past these feelings.
Some will quickly call someone with a phobia insane however it's not fair to come to the conclusion that just because a phobia exists, it is any indication of insanity. A person's phobia can sometimes be embarrassing, especially when they are not able to control it and there are people who will not be able to control themselves when they come face to face with them.
Phobias can be simple like the fear of being in a tight space or complex like that of riding in an airplane, but a social phobia can take the form of not being able to speak in public or of being surrounded by a crowd. Most phobias are characterized by panic attacks such as when a person is faced with their phobia and when they are made to come face-to-face with it. It's perfectly normal to fear because rationality involves fear but irrational fear and is already irrational is known as a phobia. It's not normal anymore and can have a negative impact a person's lifestyle.
A person seeking to get rid of their phobia should not turn to doctors who dig deeper to find the original cause and this may be a waste since finding the root of the phobia will not cause it to go away. The more important thing is to posses a strong will so that fears will no longer control emotions.
