Making Homemade Pancake Mix

By James S. Garret

We all lead very busy lives. That business does not seem to subside at all in the morning. In fact, most people are running out the door in the morning because they slept too late and have no time to make a delicious breakfast.

So what if you want to have a big delicious breakfast? Wouldn't you love to have some warm, golden brown pancakes smothered with butter and drenched with syrup one morning? Am I making your mouth water?

If you don't have much time to cook in the morning, you can cut back on the time it takes to make pancakes by using pancake mix. It cuts out an entire step of measuring out all the dry ingredients and you don't even have to mix them together.

Pancake mixes also make great gifts. Sometimes you get invited to a party or have to get a gift for someone and you have no idea what to get them. They either have everything and you don't know what else to get, or you don't know them very well to know what they would like.

What makes food such a great gift? First of all, you they don't have to worry about it it matching anything, and they don't have to find a permanent place to put it. Everybody has to eat, right?

If you are going to use pancake mix or want to give it as a gift, you have two options. You can either go to the store and pick it up, or you can make your own. Making your own can be fun, but it defeats the purpose if you make your own and then use it 5 minutes later. Make it beforehand and have it ready for when you need it.

There are two ways to make pancake mix. You could use a pancake mix recipe, or you could use a basic recipe and just measure out the dry ingredients. The dry ingredients become your mix.

Once the mix is ready, you can either add some chocolate chips, nuts, or something else or you can move on to the next step. Put the mix in a nice jar and store it in the cabinet or pair it with a bottle of real maple syrup and give it away as a gift. - 20759
