Samsung SyncMaster 2263DX - Gadget or Necessity

By Matt Ryan

Dual monitoring is a very efficient way for individuals to get their work done. Whatever you may use the two monitors for, it allows you to separate applications for your convenience and ease of use. This concept has been around for over a decade and manufacturers are just now coming up with solutions that provide the same efficiency in a more spacious design.

Samsung has released a dual monitor set that has a 22" monitor along with an attachable 7" monitor - the SyncMaster 2263DX. This is a great setup for those who like the concept of dual monitoring. It is especially beneficial for individuals whom have limited desk space, and cannot fit two full sized monitors on their desk. The 7" monitor is perfect for secondary applications like instant messaging, while the 22" monitor is ideal for running your standard applications.

The larger monitor is the primary monitor. With a 1680 x 1050 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ration, and 5ms response time, this monitor is no different from a standard standalone unit. The one difference is that you must use a USB 2.0 port along with a DVI, HDMI, or VGA connection to connect the monitor to your computer.

The smaller monitor, expectedly, has a much lower resolution and contrast ration along with a slower response time. (Res: 800 x 480, Con: 400:1, RT: 30ms) For a secondary monitor that supports secondary applications, these numbers are definitely sufficient for productivity.

The secondary monitor attaches nicely to the primary monitor, taking up much less real estate on your desk. It is attached via a pivotal arm that allows you to rotate the monitor to the perfect position. Additionally, the 7-inch monitor can be adjusted to either landscape or portrait layout, whichever you prefer.

The secondary 7-inch monitor can function as more than just an attachment to the 22-inch monitor. The smaller of the two can also be used as a standalone monitor or even a digital picture frame. This smaller monitor was also designed to be used as a secondary monitor for laptops - if desired.

The Syncmaster 2263DX not only offers a functional dual monitoring setup for small offices, but provides a solid platform for teleconferencing as well. There is a 3.0M webcam, 1.5W down firing speakers, and a microphone - all built right into the monitor itself. The secondary monitor, the 7-inch one, is perfect for the video aspect of a teleconference.

This unit sells for around $550. While this is a bit pricey compared to a standard 22-inch monitor, there is additional functionality and convenience in the SyncMaster 2263DX.

Purchasing Samsungs SyncMaster 2263DX all comes down to personal preference, space, and budget. The system offers some great functionality, along with convenience and efficiency. If you are going for dual monitoring only, two monitors would be the cheaper option. If you are looking for new and convenient with an added bonus of technology, then the SyncMaster 2263DX is the answer. - 20759

The Eye of the Tiger

By Lynn Pierce

Remember the theme song from the Rocky movie, "The Eye of the Tiger"?

When Rocky fought his opponent he had the focus of 'the eye of the tiger'. When that song was written they couldn't have had any idea the significance it would take on when a new Tiger took the world stage and changed sports forever.

I don't care if you are a golf fan or a sports fan or if you think there is too much hype over this one particular athlete-yes golfers are athletes.

Tiger Woods is a force to be reckoned with. I could write a book about not only his accomplishments in the sports world, but also his accomplishments as a human being, but many books have already been written. In fact I wrote about Tiger in my book, "Breakthrough to Success."

Look at what Tiger does in terms of how you live your life. Could you stand up to the level of excellence that Tiger requires of himself? If you raised your expectations, do you think you would be performing head and shoulders above your competition?

I've always been a huge fan of his because not only is he a consummate professional, he has such intense focus that you can see it on his face when you watch him on TV. I have also had the pleasure of standing just a few feet from him on more than one occasion and watching that focus in person.

Over and over again I heard the announcers at the tournament talking about how nobody would believe this if it was a movie. It would just be too much of a fantasy and the whoever wrote a screenplay that played out like this would be laughed out of a movie mogul's office. I don't know if I've ever seen a movie or a sporting event with this many interesting characters and twists and turns.

Tiger is larger than life and his life is richer, more nuanced, and more interesting than any movie script. And this weekend he was Rocky, but he wasn't fighting an opponent, he was doing what his dad had taught him. He was playing full out because that's the only way to do it.

There were so many amazing shots from this one tournament. You can probably find them all on Youtube. But it's not about the shots. It's about the measure of the man. During the tournament some of his fellow golfers, who should feel really ashamed of themselves right now, wondered out loud through their pettiness and jealousy how hurt Tiger really was.

Tiger on the other hand downplayed his injury to not take the focus off the Open while he played through incredible pain that would have made almost any other player call it quits, especially when he was so far back that it didn't look like he had any chance at all of winning.

And yet, Tiger not only didn't quit, he forced a playoff and played another 19 holes on Monday. And then he made the impossible inevitable by winning...again!

Watching him play in the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines for 4 days instead of the usual 3 was a treat and at the same time painful. My heart ached every time I saw him wince when he hit the ball or when his caddy pulled him up by the arm when he couldn't get up by himself or when the pain of taking another stroke had him almost doubled over in pain.

And I wondered how he could keep going, where did he find the inner strength to focus enough to pull it out day after day?

Ironically during the tournament there was a commercial running with audio of his dad talking about how Tiger would never meet anyone else as mentally tough as him in his entire life.

He certainly proved his dad right that weekend. I'm sorry I won't be seeing him play the rest of the summer, but I know he'll be back next year better than ever because striving for excellence is just his natural way of being.

The question is, is it yours? - 20759

Research Shows Neuropathic Pain Decreased with Medical Marijuana

By Dr. Julian Reindhurst

Recent studies done by scientist has shown medical marijuana can alleviate a condition called chronic pain syndrome which is a burning sensation that occurs when a slight touch of something can feel like a wound.

chronic pain syndrome is unique because the condition is unaffected by aspirin type drugs and is extremely resistant to stronger analgesics such as opiates.

A study on neuropathic pain related to HIV infection had 50 patients smoked medical marijuana cigarettes three times a day or medical marijuana cigarettes from which active ingredients had been extracted in a study done in 2007 .

They were then instructed to rate their pain on a scale from "no pain" to "worst pain imaginable."

The results showed a 34% reduction in ratings of pain in the medical marijuana group compared with 17% in the placebo group over five days of treatment as was published in the journal Neurology.

Additional research concluded that 44 patients found that medical marijuana alleviated neuropathic pain arising from a variety of conditions, including spinal cord injury and diabetes and was published in June in the Journal of Pain.

Participants smoked medical marijuana on a set schedule -- first two puffs, then three puffs an hour later, then four puffs an hour after that -- from a single cigarette containing either 0%, 3.5%, or 7% THC.

Prior to smoking medical marijuana, the average pain rating was a 55 on a 100-point scale and decreased by 46% in both treatment groups and by 27% in the placebo group one hour after the last inhale.

Analgesic drugs are often tested against experimentally induced pain. These studies have been conducted for medical marijuana as well.

For example, 15 healthy volunteers received skin injections with capsaicin in a study conducted in 2007 and reported in the journal Anesthesiology.

capsaicin is the chemical behind that fiery spice in chile peppers and then smoked different strength medical marijuana cigarettes.

The medium dose, with a 4% THC concentration, lessened the burning pain.

The research concluded that smoking marijuana can bring relief to sufferers of neuropathic pain comparable to other analgesic drugs.

As with all pain pills you have to keep taking it to continue gaining the benefits. - 20759

Are Build A Niche Store Sites Still Profitable

By Don Lawson

A few years ago, the Build A Niche Store Program hit the market and quickly become many Internet Marketers favorite tool for making money with eBay auctions. Many Marketers quickly went out and bought hundreds of domains and installed this popular script on them. To say this script was H-O-T is an understatement.

At the time, the Build A Niche Store Program allowed beginners to quickly build niche targeted sites using eBay auctions and Google Adsense along with other ads. Many of these people were making 5 figures or more each month. Life was good if you had a network of Build A Niche Store sites.

What a difference a year can make. About a year or so after the program came out, Google took the action of delisting many BANS sites from their index. No real reason was given, though many feel it was because they viewed the sites as thin affiliate sites.

In a move that added salt to a wound, eBay then started dropping affiliates from their rolls. No one is quite sure why either. The official email that users got left more questions than it did answers. What ever the reason, some affiliates who were making a living off their BANS sites suddenly found their self without income.

So is the BANS program still a viable vehicle to make money on the Internet? I think it is. However, Internet Marketers need to keep in mind that a BANS site should be built like any other site. It must have good content to be useful for the Internet user. Without it, new sites run the risk of ending up like some of the old ones. With no rankings and no affiliate products to make money.

Now days, there are other scripts on the market that can use eBay auctions on websites for added income. In fact, whole websites can be made around eBay auctions using tools and resources from eBay and software developers. Any site built around the Build A Niche Store program should have good content added. As long as Google and eBay are looking down on these script sites, the Internet Marketer needs to take action to limit running a foul of either of these companies. - 20759

Salary Negotiation

By Trevor Davide Grant

A colleague of mine was asking me about how to approach a potential new employer about their salary expectations, and the timing of the conversation. They were worried it might set the wrong impression or give the employer a negotiating edge if they discussed the salary too soon. My rule of thumb is to never lie to any employer about your salary history or salary expectations, but to avoid the discussion until you have nearly gotten the job.

When I have been pressured by HR for an response to that question in the past, my preferred approach is outlined in the following checklist.

1) First I'd just comment that I'd prefer to discuss the topic a little later on. It is too early at this time in the recruiting process to chat about this, and we do not know enough info about each other, neither about the job, nor about my work history. Also, my previous salary is not very relevant to the job I have applied to. I would rather be remunerated according to market conditions and the companies hiring guidelines for the job.

2) If put on the spot to respond during the interview, and they insist on knowing my previous salary, I mention the total value of what I expect for salary and all compensation. That includes cash, as well as benefits and other perks. I will mention holiday time, quality of life factors, and other things like pension and health plans. I also explain that what is most important to me is that the job offer is fair within the market rather than based on what I made in the past.

3) It is important for me to be aware before going into any interview what the standard salary range is for that position. I also want determine where my overall percentile would fall within that range. The vast majority of people are not at the top end of the salary range, so unless I know I have been a superstar, which I usually strive towards, then I wouldn't recommend expecting the absolute maximum salary, unless I know I can explain why I am worth it. This is almost always confirmed by reference checks, and also, when starting the new job, it will be obvious if I am not in the 98th percentile. The goal is to be generous with your self evaluation but honest if you are not at the total superstar ranking.

4) Even if you had been making a lower than average salary before, possibly even well below the average for that job in that market, you should expect to be paid within that fair market range when you go to your next career opportunity. You may have one of many reasons for accepting a job at a lower salary than at your previous job. It doesn't explain your value to the new company. The end analysis is that your value to the market is what the market is currently defining as the salary range for your talent, your level of performance and experience in the industry.

5) If you disclose your salary history information, remember to state your case about the relevance of the information. You may give your personal reasons for accepting the lower pay, but most important is to explain you want the outcome of the salary negotiation to be one where both parties are respected, and that they feel a sense of win-win in the outcome.

Never lie to a prospective employer. This is cardinal rule number one. The new company will find out facts and do their legwork to assess your history and past performance. You need to clearly communicate the value you bring and that your past salary history whether high or low is not too pertinent to the new job. You need to be met with fairness in the recruiting process, and that your value proposition is clear and well expressed. - 20759

The Beauty of Medieval Tapestries

By Stacy Mar

In a span of over 700 years, the medieval era is also referred to as the Middle Ages, a time marked by various historical events. It was during the late medieval times when the Renaissance, or the age of cultural advancement, began in Europe. The use of tapestry wall hangings is also very common during the Middle Ages. In these times, various tapestries usually the ones with emblems or coat of arms are hung behind a the throne. Wall art was also used as a symbol or sign of authority and a sign of prestige. Besides decoration and display, tapestries also had practical uses.

Tapestries during the Middle Ages were used for providing insulation of castle walls and privacy "screens". And since tapestries are portable, kings and noble men gathered their tapestry wall hangings during travels and took them with them. During the beginning of the Renaissance, tapestries were used during special occasions for decorative purposes. Flanders was the center of tapestry production in Europe. Hunting scenes, quest of the unicorns, religion, and chivalry were the common themes of medieval tapestries, as well as historical events that involved war and invasion and the struggle of royalties in a certain kingdoms.

Valois tapestries are one of the most popular that depicted middle ages. It is composed of eight scenes showing images of the festivities at the Court of France and owned by Catherine di Medici. They were drawn or illustrated by renowned illustrator Antoine Caron, although there was a second artist who worked on them too. Some believed the other artist was Lucas de Heere, the Flemish poet and painter.

William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones were major figures in the resurrection of medieval tapestry. One of their famous creations is the tapestry depicting the quest of The Holy Grail. Created during the 19th century, several years after the middle ages, their works have perfectly illustrated the beauty that is the craft of making works-of-art and tapestry wall art hangings. Although mass-produced, the tapestries rival the beauty of the original pieces. Mass production also meant the tapestry was no longer as expensive and became more affordable for the public.

Tapestries used as decorations are collected by art enthusiasts. The favorites, according to collectors, are those that narrate a story and that is common for the medieval tapestries. Notables are certainly The Bayeux Tapestry and The Hunt of the Unicorn. It is not surprising that many popular tapestry replicas in existence are those with medieval themes.

Medieval tapestries are among the most popular, because of the vast period of time it covers and the themes it emcompases. From brave knights and noble kings and queens and the castles that keep them safe, to the men and women as well as mythical creatures they provide great fun and educational entertainment in the telling of these fables.

The Medieval Art Tapestry wall hangings are works-of-art and can bring a common room to life. Not only does the style and colors attract the eye in an attractive way, but the a conversation usually follows. Who can resist the telling of might, magic and myth of these days long gone.

Camelot is romance and excitement filled the castle grounds with action and these days should not be forgotten in the stories for our children. Turn off your TV and have a conversation and story telling time while gazing upon one of these fine classics. - 20759

The Basic Methods of Concrete Polishing

By Mikkan Drane

Polished concrete is a generic term in floor styling that easily gives you pictures of a variety of decorative shiny concrete flooring possibilities. Clinical Evidence Has Shown Acai Berry Absorbs in the Body

By Dr. Jerimiah Crossderd

A new food that has been sweeping the world as a miracle food known as the acai berry has been questioned as legit or not because of the limited research that has been done on the fruit. A recent study added credence to the acai berry as research proved that the fruit does indeed get absorbed by the body when it is either consumed as a juice or pulp.

This finding was recently published in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry by a group of scientist from Texas AgriLife. The absorption in the human body by the acai fruit berry is an important finding as the acai berry is known to contain high amounts of antioxidants that are thought to fight and prevent damaging free radicals to the body.

The scientist performed this research by taking 12 healthy people by providing them one daily serving of either acai jusice or the acai berry pulp. The acai berry is a pupular food in the U.S. that is being touted as a miricale food.

Studies indicate that the body does in fact absorb antioxidants from other foods however, this is the first study done specifically on the acai berry where it shows antioxidant absorbtion. Acai berry i has a taste that is descibed by many as a combination of chocalate and red wine.

Sales of acai products have increased dramatically in the U.S. where it has been touted as a metabolism booster, weight reducer and athletic enhancer.

The acai berry fruit can only grow in the Amazonian Rainforests of South America-The acai palm is the tree that bears these precious fruits when a single palm can grow as high as sixty feet. The fruit looks similiar to that of a blueberry however, the only edible part of ther fruit is the outer layer.

Dr. Steve Talcott and his wife have been studying the acai berry since 2001 and are considered pioneers to the English speaking world. In 2004, they published the first ever english study of the acai berry pertaining to the high concentration of antioxidants that are found inside of the fruit.

Studies showed the berrys activity against cancer cells. With that infrmation, the team then decided to find out whether those elements were actually being absorbed into the human body or being eliminated unused as waste.

"Like vitamin C, the body can only absorb so much at a time," Dr. Talcott noted. - 20759

Marriages Can Be Helped By Using Compliments

By Carol Ann

If I have learned anything over the years, it is that I often don't offer compliments and praise to others when the situation calls for it. After many years of marriage, it is easy to become complacent and take your spouse for granted. Each of us likes to receive praise, and you should especially remember this in your own household.

It is not enough for you to assume that she knows how you feel about her is not enough. She needs you to tell her. She needs to hear you say she's beautiful, that you love her, and how wonderful you think she is. And don't forget to also acknowledge and praise her for doing all of the little minor tasks she performs daily with no thanks. She doesn't just do these things because she wants to, so make sure you tell her thank you.

If she brings you a cup of coffee when you first wake up in the morning, tell her thank you. Let her know that you truly appreciate all that she does to keep your household running. Take time to compliment the little things and to notice them. Perhaps she reorganized something, or really cleaned a room up, you need to let her know how good it looks and how much you appreciate her hard work.

Letting your partner know how much you appreciate her will likely become a catalyst for change in your marriage. Doing these things will not only improve things, but you will probably notice that she will begin to compliment you too. Working together as a team is the only way to conquer problems in the marriage.

This creates an encouraging, nurturing environment and can help you be a more effective team. Dont take your wife for granted anymore, start complimenting her today, and you will see that it will create a whole new atmosphere in your home, it truly will. - 20759

Love Energy

By Charles Taylor Pennington

Have you ever come across one of those people that seem to just get it?

They seem connected, they have pleasant confidence that just makes you feel good to be around them. You can feel the energy coming off these people. Back in the day, they called it having animal magnetism.

Do you think they folks are walking around life looking for all the answers?

Dont they seem like they have them already?

What gives them this seemingly super power to create whatever they desire in life?

Its not that they have all the answers.

Its that theyve asked a few key questions.

When you have the right answers, you dont need to waste time searching for them.

As a former systems engineer I spent a lot of time getting to the core of some very complex problems. The systems Ive designed and written have run several multi-million dollar corporations and have had billions of dollars run through them.

One of the reasons that I am good at diagnosing and fixing problems in these systems is because of a simple concept one of my professors made sure we understood.

Make sure you are asking the right questions, and solving the right problems.

Thats what these folks that just seem to get it understand.

They ask themselves, what is at the core of this issue? They realize that symptoms are effects and start looking for their cause.

Ive applied my years as a system engineer to the systems that we use to create our lives. I call my work Human Being 2.0 " The Human Operating System.

In my studies I found that one simple observation, one simple shift in attitude, can short-circuit a huge number of problems that people spend years trying to find the right answers to.

One simple instruction at the core of your Human Operating System can change everything about your life.

Consider this:

Everything is energy. Energy is intelligent. All energy vibrates. All energy harmonizes with all other energy.

You are energy. You vibrate and harmonize with all that is. The act of observing and your attitude towards it is the most powerfully creative process there is.

How you harmonize with energy is, essentially, how you create your life.

The purest energy that a human can produce is love. Thats why love energy is the greatest clearing mechanism known.

The greatest, most powerful Harmonic Thoughts are those of love.

And when the energy of your being is in harmony with love, you are in tune with the purest energy there is.

That's why Love Energy produces clarity of mind and inspiration of thought, which lead to actions that are in harmony with what you truly desire from your life.

The abundant life that you deserve.

The Love Energy Routine is part of the answer to a question I asked. The answer was delivered through a flow of inspired, harmonic thought that was given to me to help me find peace in my life.

What is the Love Energy Routine? The answer to my question was not just the text and idea for a routine to help me feel better.

It was the idea that thoughts and emotions have energy, and that this energy can be focused and tuned. The routine uses guided visualization to put you in harmony with love and gratitude.

And when you are resonating with love and gratitude, that's when great things start to happen.

Because we know the power of the harmony of energy, we start our seminars with the Love Energy Routine.

It does an excellent job of very quickly producing a state of clarity and harmony in the group. We know that whatever baggage and clutter that folks are carrying around can be released with simple observation of love energy.

The Love Energy Routine also focuses on gratitude. Gratitude is essentially love. Love for the things you are observing in your life.

Not love for things youve had or could have had. Not love for the things you may or may not have in the future.

Gratitude is the love for the things of now. Moreover, the love of now.

The love for the creative moment that is now.

Your mind is the most powerful creative natural resource on the planet, and its point of creation is always and only right now.

You have the ultimate power and authority to create your life however you are inspired to do so.

However, you must seize the authority and power and use it. Hone the skills and craft of creating your life. If you dont, your life will be created for you.

Action must be taken. Active thought must be involved. Keen observation is required.

Inspired thought produces the most powerful action.

Clarity produces the most inspired thought.

Love produces the greatest and purest clarity. - 20759

Dancing for Women

Shimmy: Belly Dancing for Weight Loss

Belly dancing is one of the best ways to lose weight, firm and tone your body. Dancing in general has never been more popular, as evidenced by the many dancing themed popular TV shows. Dancing With The Stars, So You Think You Can Dance, and the like have revived an interest in dancing. At the same time, weight loss makeover programs like The Biggest Loser, Bulging Brides, and Ten Years Younger also surged in popularity. Belly dancing combines the two: weight loss and dancing.

Shimmy on Fit TV

Not to be outdone by ballroom, hip hop, contemporary, swing, or jazz, the ancient art of belly dancing also has a television show of its own. Shimmy, which airs on the satellite and cable channel Fit TV, takes viewers through a half-hour belly dancing lesson, led by exotic beauties Shivaun, Adalat, Dominique, Gillian, Karen, Manon, and Simone. The dancers break steps down, starting very slowly until the dancer following along at home gains confidence in her abilities to learn the moves. Gradually the pace increases, and soon the home viewer is belly dancing in her own living room.

Pace of the Show

Every episode of Shimmy begins with a dancer-led warm-up that gets your muscles ready for the workout to come. Next comes a section devoted to instruction. Home viewers learn four to six movements that put the hips, thighs, glutes, and abs through a vigorous workout. Belly dancing has never been so much fun, as the home viewer learns a complete routine.

A performance section follows the teaching. Viewers can dance along, using moves they just learned, or sit back and watch. The beautiful dancers in their flowing scarves and colorful costumes paint a vivid picture of this ancient dance. A no-holds-barred, freestyle session closes out every episode, with hips pumping, shoulders shimmying, and fingers flying.

Calorie Burning Fun

Belly dancing burns about 250 to 300 calories per hour, so dancing your way through an episode of Shimmy will consume 125 to 150 calories. After twenty-three belly dancing sessions, you will have danced enough to lose an entire pound. Building muscle in your core and midsection is key to reducing the buildup of troublesome belly fat"the most dangerous kind of fat there is.

Belly dancing builds the core muscles that surround the spine. Regular belly dancing will whittle your waistline in record time. Health Insurance Is Too Expensive

By Ethan Kalvin

Medical advancements are promising longer lives, but can we afford it? Health insurance has become so expensive that many people can no longer afford to purchase it. As costs continue to skyrocket, many of us wonder where it will all stop. At what point will we as a nation begin to do something about this problem?

Not only is the cost of health care extremely frustrating, trying to figure out the plan we opted for is as well. Many of us do not understand what a deductible really is or how to meet your limits. Does this change yearly? How does our insurance coincide with a spouse's plan? What happens if we lose our jobs? What is a PPO or a network provider? The expenses alone are enough to drive one crazy. Is there anyone who can help explain what we are really paying for?

We all know about the FDA and their role in testing drugs and medical equipment before they can be released to the market. We understand that medical practitioners need to be paid for their services to us, but we also feel like we are being taken advantage of with excessively high costs. Insurance companies seem to make more and more money while we feel blindsided by the onslaught of new medications on the market. And doctors keep writing prescriptions as though that will really solve the problem.

There are hundreds of new drugs approved by the FDA each year and it seems crazy. How many ways can they reformulate the same ingredients into yet another product? How much more effective can this product be than the last one that was supposed to do the same thing? Just by turning on the TV or surfing the internet, one can hear the latest pitch for some medication with a quirky name which has been manufactured anew, just as the drug's own composition has.

While millions of Americans are slowly losing a battle to take care of their bodies both mentally and physically, the cost of health care continues to slink higher. Somewhere along the line, we let the basic necessity of having health care slip away from us, and now we wake up to the fact that for millions, health care is not an option, therefore we don't have it. This fact should not be the norm for anybody. As the ranks of the uninsured grow and become more vocal, hopefully things will start to improve. - 20759
